Onboard Camera: Fantastic Chase Between a Caterham R500 and a Ferrari 430 Scuderia

Two very different cars, fun twisty track with elevation changes, close battle, good passing, what else can you ask for in a track video?

The drivers' lines are not perfect, the braking points are a bit off, the steering wheel is way too busy but none of that makes it any less fun to watch this cool chase. These guys are just amateurs having fun at a track event like most of us here. And hey, even paid drivers are not nearly perfect - check this GT3 vs. 1-Series chase from the Dutch Supercar Challenge.

I wonder how it feels to shift gears with your left hand - darn Brits have it all mixed up! I bet I'd do the "money shift" by the end of the first hot lap...

  1. If the Caterham didn't have a passenger, he likely could have overtaken the 430 MUCH earlier. Lot to be said for power-to-weigt ratio!

Left-hand shifting isn't as hard to get used to as you might imagine. I drove an Alfa 156 around Scotland years ago and the hardest part was staying on the correct (not right) side of the road after making a turn!

  2. I hear you. I think my life expectancy would be < 1 hr if I were to drive in Britain ;o)
