Kimi Being Kimi: Abu Dhabi Edition

Kimi responding to his race engineer's call that Alonso is 5 seconds behind him: "Leave me alone, I know what I need to do!"

Hat Tip to Gary R.

Kimi responding to his race engineer's request to keep his tires warm under yellow: "Yes, yes, yes, yes, I'm doing it all the time, so you don't need to remind me every 10 seconds!"

And probably the funniest part was how downbeat Kimi still was after winning he race: "I was really hoping to have won before so there is no reason to be jumping around"

"To be honest it's just another win on the list for me. It's great of course, because it's been a few years, but the wins prior to this one were very similar; we didn't have the best car, but we fought and still won."

"It's great to win now, so people will stop asking me if I can win or not, and at least it makes it a bit clearer!"

Pressed as to whether it was 'good' that the question about his first win had been answered: "I never cared really what people think - if I don't finish the next race, then they'll think that I'm as bad as that race," he said.

"I'll just do my thing, and if I'm happy with what I'm doing and it's the best it can be for the team, then that's that."

"So I really don't care if people are thinking differently of me now than what they did three hours before the race."

On the first win for the Lotus name since Ayrton Senna won the 1987 US Grand Prix: "It's been a long time for them, I guess."

"It's a great name for us, a good past, but you know I race for the team whatever the name is."

"I don't really care, so it's just for the guys who do all the work. Maybe it looks good in somebody's eyes but for me it really makes no difference."

And my favorite: "Last time you guys was giving me shit because I didn’t really smile enough..."

At least Kimi is perfectly consistent with his own Mood States!!

So ironic, he wins ONCE this year and there is no champagne on the podium!!!

  1. A classic moment. Kimi is one of a kind, for better or for worth.

That reminds me Kimi's Mood State on OHL

  2. David Coulthard had his teeth cut out for him in that interview, LOL! That was probably the most I've seen Kimi speak and it paid off ;o)

  3. Either Kimi or that engineer must be a real joy to work with. I'm thinking I know which one is the source of the issue.
