Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee is Brilliant!

It's so fantastic to see Jerry and Michael back together shooting the crap over coffee.

"Interior is grey vinyl and duct tape"

Hey, shouldn't "coffee, liquor, money" be everyone's priorities?

Loved the chess story! Deep, funny, genuine.

No cameramen needed. 3 Go Pros in the car will do.

In its short existence, the site has moved up to top 2,000 in the U.S. This is remarkable for a unscripted gig in which Jerry just kills time. Truly a show about nothing...and everything.

Deployable Studs in Nokian Snow Tires Are Super Cool!

To celebrate the 80-year anniversary of inventing winter tires, Nokian came up with an exciting snow tire concept with deployable studs. From Nokian's press release, "With a press of a button, the driver can bring out the studs to improve the grip of the tyre. When the studs are not needed, they can be retracted back into the tyre." This is super cool! As someone who's had Nokian Hakkapelita studded tires in his Winter ride, I'd be psyched to try these out. Let's hope that these concept tires will be commercially viable some day soon!

Best U.S. Publicity BMW Could Ever Hope for!

What would a car manufacturer pay for headlines like this: Sochi Olympics 2014: BMW Helps USA Bobsled Win First Medal in 62 Years? It's impressive that BMW chose the U.S. Olympic bobsled team for its biggest marketing investment.

BMW didn't just throw money at the U.S. team; as part of its sponsorship, they got an opportunity to show how they can apply its technology and knowledge of car aerodynamics to redesign the bobsleds used by the U.S. men's and women's teams. They altered the shape of the traditional bobsled, made it smaller and used lightweight carbon fiber. Because the sled they designed was so light, BMW had to add about 100 pounds of lead to meet Olympic requirements. However, just like in race cars, that weight could now be redistributed to where it helped dynamics most.

It's remarkable for a German-owned company to provide this level of support for the U.S Olympic team. It's the best publicity BMW could ever hope for!

What The F**k Was That All About, Danica?

Apparently, Danica feels that using profanity makes her sound more manly.

The Hennessey Venom GT Beats The Bugatti Veyron

"The Hennessey Venom GT hit 270.49mph at the Kennedy Space Center on February 14th, thus becoming the fastest production car in the world by beating the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport's previous record of 269.86 mph."

It's fantastic for any car to be abe to claim it's faster than the Bugatti Veyron. But it's beyond me how this car could ever be considered a production car. Maybe we need another goofy-looking Guinness World Records guy to convince us of that...

1:45 Minutes of Sheer Hill Climb Madness

This is a mind-blowing run by David Hauser in the 2013 European Hillclimb Championship at Course de côte de St. Ursanne - Les Rangiers. He finished 3rd in the climb and set the track record for formula cars. Enjoy!

Kimi Spins LaFerrari at Fiorano

If Ferrari's F1 driver and GP champ Kimi Raikkonen can spin LaFerrari, I think we are all allowed a minor misdemeanor every once in a while, wouldn't you agree?

This Pace Car Is on Fire

Hat Tip to EJ via

So funny, I'm not even sure where to start:

The hot lap at Daytona was set by the pace car.

If it burns on Sunday, it won't sell on Monday.

Unsafe at any speed!

The new flame color scheme by GM!

Fire sale starts before the race is over!

The Daytona 500 has again been renamed the Fireball 500

A caution for the caution car!

And last, it deserves its own Alicia Keys song!

She's just a car and she's on fire
Hotter than a fantasy, lonely like a highway
She's living in a world and it's on fire
Filled with catastrophe, but she knows she can fly away

Ohhhh oh oh oh oh
She got both feet on the ground
And she's burning it down
Ohhhh oh oh oh oh
She got her head in the clouds
And she's not backing down

Pace car is on fire...
Pace car is on fire...
She's walking on fire...
Pace car is on fire...

Sports Car Driver Hall of Shame

There are so many candidates for the Sports Car Driver Hall of Shame in this video, we'll run out of space before the video is over... High performance driving school, anyone?

Why Was Senna So Fast?

These are some very interesting thoughts on how Ayrton Senna was so fast, quite possibly the best driver of all time. The video helps understand the driver, the man, the champion, the legend... Although trying to understand why Senna was so fast is a bit like trying to understand why Picasso was so creative. Much of it is a matter of feelings and emotions, which are hard to quantify. If it were so easy to emulate his driving technique, then every driver would be doing that, right?

Autocross? Rallycross? Wintercross?

The Lime Rock Drivers Club put together this very cool driving event at the track's infield. It looks like everyone had a blast; we just can't figure out what to call it - Rallycross? Wintercross? Ice Racing? We're having a really tough time calling Autocross something that doesn't have a single cone in it... While at it, check out the black 911 that spun on two back-to-back turns and proceeded to back up in the path of the Mini that caught up with it at 2:03. Where are the flaggers when you really need them?

The Most Terrifying Hill Climb Video I Have Ever Seen

This is the most terrifying hill climb video I have ever seen. It does not need to involve a crash -- it just kept me on the edge of my seat the entire run (skip to 3:25 for the start). Maybe it's a combination of the camera angle, the open-wheel formula car, the raw speed and the tight, twisty road - whatever it is, I was scared for the driver. In case you are wondering how fast he really was going, check the pass at 6:18.

Proof That Ditches Love Corvettes

Hat Tip to H.O.T.

This is security camera footage of the floor collapsing early this morning at the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, Kentucky, taking at least 8 cars into a 40-foot wide, 20-foot deep sinkhole. The collection of damaged cars included some of the most prized Corvettes ever made, including the one millionth car produced and a rare Blue Devil edition.

We are not sure if God hates Corvettes or Kentucky but expect to see some rare Corvettes with "minor sinkhole damage in otherwise mint condition" on Craigslist soon...

Group B Rally's Crazy Spectators

Group B had few restrictions on technology, design and the number of cars required for homologation to compete (200 only). Weight was kept as low as possible, high-tech materials were permitted, and there were no restrictions on boost. The sky was the limit.

But the best part of the series was the crazy spectators who thought that running with the bulls in Pamplona was too tame...

I can't decide which of the 3 pictures here are the craziest. I may have to go with the second one above - there's barely enough room for the Quattro to power slide its way through the crowd for Chrissakes!!

Great Finale at the 2014 Bathurst 12 Hour

The Bathurst 12 Hour race offers some of the best road racing and this year was no exception. The last 5 minutes of the race will keep you on the edge of your seat. Ferrari is on a roll this year - first a Rolex 24 win after a 15-year hiatus and now a hitoric first win at Bathurst 12 Hour!

Best Cure for the Off-season?

Eric Heinrich is not just the 2011 SCCA Rookie of Year, lap time record holder on mutiple tracks, and very outspoken about how he prepares for races; he is also a snow artist who designed this formula car to scale. It looks a lot better than most actual 2014 F1 cars, wouldn't you say?

Eric standing by his creation:
Racecar: built.
Driveway: not shoveled.
Need to get my racecar fix one way or the other!

Winter Autocross at Road America!

Winter Autocross? Why yes, it does exist! Although Ice Autocross would probably be a better name for it. Either way, it's very cool that you can do it at Road America!

Fastest Crash Test Ever Recorded

120 mph to 0 in 68 milliseconds with the occupants experiencing peaks of 400 G! Think 120 mph is far-fetched and does not apply to you? Think again. All it takes is a head-on collision between two cars traveling 60 mph...
